Located 170 km away from Montreal, the Taureau reservoir is the largest body of water accessible from the city. This reservoir, which eventually turned into this magnificent lake, was created as a result of the construction of the Matawin dam in 1931. You will enjoy mid-day naps and camping on these beaches of fine sand.
In September of 1931, the dynamic small village of Saint-Ignace-du-Lac was flooded as a result of the dam, forcing its 700 inhabitants to exile. They had to create a new life for themselves, away from their friends and loved ones. In 1980, the 50th Anniversary of the flooding was for many of them an opportunity to meet again. Hormidas Charrette, who was over 80 years old, then said with a tear in his eye: “Thank you for helping me find my folks again, now I can die in peace!”
We will take you on a sea-kayaking tour in these surroundings filled with memories. We will paddle up and down this magnificent lake and take a well deserved nap after lunch as well as a good night sleep on its soft sandy beach.
You will also live the memorable experience of a kayak outing under the stars. All the meals are included in the package, as well as all the sea-kayaking gear so that you can enjoy a worry free excursion in these beautiful surroundings. Loons will even be there to offer you the most relaxing of all lullabies… These unique outings are available to both experienced and beginner sea-kayakers. Our healthy meals

Children have the possibility to experiment sea kayak sharing a double kayak with one of their parents (30% reduction/children from 9 to 12 years old).
Children from 12 years old and more, a little more active, can use a solo kayak during this tour (regular price).
Children from 6 to 9 years old are invited to experiment the tour in Zodiac with one of our guides (30% reduction/children from 6 to 9 years old)
